  • Michael Bam Teacher

    Michael Bam

    Piano | Guitar | Music Theory | Ukulele (All levels) AMEB, VCE Prep

    With over 20 years of experience as an educator, Michael is one of MCMA’s most experienced and in-demand teacher’s. As a registered AMEB teacher, Michael has many piano and guitar students undertaking exams with excellent results. With a wealth of experience teaching students of all ages and levels, Michael’s lessons are engaging, goal-driven and highly enjoyable. As a performer Michael was once a member of one of Melbourne’s most in demand cover and corporate acts ‘Passionfruit Pulp’, performing at venues across the country. His performance history has seen him support the likes of Thirsty Merc, Jimmy Barnes, Something for Kate, The Living End and Eskimo Joe. Outside of teaching and performing Michael designs and programs musical instrument and theory training applications for phones and tablets.

    Alex Gooding

    Drums (All levels) Vocals (Beginner) VCE Prep

    Bachelor of Applied Music (Performance). Alex has been teaching drums and instrumental music at all different levels for over 10 years. From the moment you step into your first class with Alex, his passion for the drum kit and music in general is immediately evident. His inviting and empathetic personality puts his students at ease and ensures the student and teacher rapport is established from the outset. Alex has a wealth of performing experience playing at some of Australia’s most well regarded venues and festivals such as Port Fairy Folk Festival, Woodford, St Kilda Festival, White Night and more. Throughout his time as a drummer, Alex could be found behind the kit for acts such as ‘Passerine’, ‘Phoebe and the Night Creatures’, ‘Fake Sibling’, ‘Winter York’, ‘Kilamari’ and more.

    Justin Gould

    Guitar (All levels) Piano (Beginner) VCE Prep

    Diploma of Music (VCA and Box Hill). Justin has over 20 years of Guitar & Piano teaching experience believing each student is unique and can learn all they need to know learning the songs they love! His engaging friendly approach towards teaching make him a popular choice amongst our students at MCMA. Justin was a first call guitarist for finalists on The Voice and X-Factor and has a wealth of live playing experience including the afl grand final and playing guitar for the likes of Dale Ryder 'Boom Crash Opera', Brian Mannix 'Uncanny X-Men' and Sean Kelly 'Models' and band members of Kylie Minogue, Men At Work, Gotye, Savage Garden, Ross Wilson and Delta Goodrem.

    Bachelor of Teaching. Jake is a multi instrumentalist with a main focus on Drum Kit. Jake is an enthusiastic teacher and very popular with our younger students at the school. Jake is a clinician for Roland Australia presenting there digital kit range around Australia.

    Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA). Dedicated and passionate vocal educator with over 20 years of professional performance experience and teaching students of all ages and abilities. Experienced in helping singers develop healthy vocal technique, confidence, musicianship, and performance skills through engaging, student-focused lessons tailored to individual goals. Collin has a wealth of performance experiance spanning both stage and television.

    Lachlan Rother

    An experienced performer, composer, and audio engineer, Lachlan offers just over 20 years of experience as an instrumentalist. Beginning with Guitar at the age of 7, Lachlan has grown to become a consummate multi-instrumentalist, specialising in contemporary Guitar, Drums, Bass, Keys & Vocals. As a composer, and touring musician, Lachlan aims to foster a nurturing environment with his students, focusing on igniting a passion & curiosity for their instrument of choice.

    Bachelor of Applied Music (Performance). Sam has a breadth of musical experience, he is regularly performing for corporate jazz quartet Easy Canapé and performing PianoMan hits in packed venues across Melbourne as well as interstate. Sam has teaching experience with students of all ages and is always eager to pass on what he has learnt. Sam’s focus is to engage students to understand, enjoy and eventually experiment with the music they play, not only recite it.

    Lizzie Jean Cheney

    Vocals | Guitar (Child/Teen Young Beginner)

    Lizzie is a passionate singer, guitarist and songwriter with over 10 years of singing and guitar playing experience. Alongside performing, she professionally writes and records her own indie-pop music, bringing valuable real-world creative experience to her teaching.

    Lizzie has a particular love for pop, electronic pop, indie pop and musical theatre. She tailors each lesson to the individual student’s interests and goals, creating a fun, encouraging and uplifting environment where students can build confidence, develop their skills and enjoy making music.
